Nevada Immunization Coalition

Introduction

In 2000, our nation set a new preventive health goal for itself - to achieve immunization rates of 90% for universally recommended vaccines among children aged 19-35 months by 2010.  Immunizations are a proven, critical strategy in reducing the incidence of vaccine preventable disease. The immunization coverage rate for Nevada's children has been consistently low in recent years when compared to the national average. In 2007, for example, the National Immunization Survey ranked Nevada as 50th in the nation for the primary coverage indicator of 4:3:1:3:3:1 for children 19-35 months of age.
